INSPIRING PLAYLISTS TO HELP YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY
My story included the magical presence of music during my time with Mark at the burn center and in my healing journey of love afterward. Music can evoke emotions in us that we have no words to express. How often can a favorite upbeat song grab us up off our seat to dance with abandon? Or a song that stirs up a memory buried deep inside ourselves that cuts straight to our heart — a poignant moment from long ago.
My son Adrian and I created several playlists which were on constant rotation in Mark’s room. They included his favorite blues and rock songs, ones we both liked and my favorite pop songs that got me through the long days. Music also created a language to connect with the medical team who supported Mark 24x7. They got to know our family through our playlists.
The start of my grief and healing journey began with music as my constant companion. Music lovingly carried me forward during the moments when I wasn’t sure I could continue. Certain songs made me feel less alone. The lyrics meant something to me. As I healed and found love again, the songs I listened to evolved.
I hope you’ll enjoy some of the songs I’ve included. They’re created into two playlists — one from my time in Phoenix with Mark and a second from my healing journey to love.
